Zimbabwe’s Robotics team won the XPRIZE Gold Medal Innovator award, at the 2022 FIRST Global Challenge games – an Olympics-style, international robotics competition for high-school students from around the world that aims to celebrate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics — also known as STEM in a similar way to how Athletics and Sports are celebrated.

The competition involving more than 180 countries was held from 13 to 16 October 2022 in Geneva, Switzerland.This is the second consecutive win for the FIRST Global Zimbabwe team who also clenched the Grand Challenge Gold Medal last year in 2021 at the international robotics competition.
